Fly Fishing the Limay River from a Drift Boat
A moving view of the Limay, with your guide rowing and positioning the boat as you fish different stretches.

With Southern Rivers Patagonia, fishing from a drift boat lets you experience the Limay River as a changing landscape. Instead of spending the day at one access point, you travel with the current, exploring different runs and banks. Your Southern Rivers guide rows and positions the boat while you concentrate on the next presentation.
How a guided float works
The guide considers the current, wind and likely holding water when choosing a line through each stretch. Sometimes you cast toward a bank; elsewhere the focus may be a seam between currents. The boat creates opportunities to cover water, but a thoughtful cast still matters.
The pace is adjusted to the anglers on board. For someone new to fly fishing, the day includes guidance on casting and line control. Experienced anglers can discuss their approach with the local fishing guide. Where conditions and access allow, a float may also include stops to fish on foot.
Choosing time on the river
A half-day float on the Limay offers a shorter introduction, with a morning on the water and a snack. A full-day Limay trip includes morning and afternoon fishing, with lunch between the sessions.
Brown and rainbow trout are part of the river's appeal, but conditions determine the day's opportunities. The useful starting point is your available time, experience and preferred pace.
