You don’t need to set aside an entire day to experience fly fishing in Patagonia. This trip with Southern Rivers Patagonia begins with pickup at your accommodation in Bariloche and takes you to the Limay River for a half day on the water with a knowledgeable local guide.
Because of the distance from Bariloche, our half-day trips take place on the Limay, allowing you to make the most of your fishing time. Its clear runs, open steppe, and ever-changing riverbanks reveal a side of the region best experienced from the water.
If you are new to fly fishing, your guide will assist you with casting, line management, and fly presentation. More experienced anglers can make the most of a shorter visit by fishing with someone who knows where to focus your time and effort for the best chances of success.

From your accommodation to the river
How your day unfolds.
We organize the transfers, equipment and fishing, so you can settle into the experience.
- Around 8:00 AM
Pickup in Bariloche
Your guide picks you up at your accommodation. We confirm the meeting time in advance and then head to the river.
- Around 9:30 AM
First casts
We begin fishing the Limay using the techniques best suited to the river conditions. Your guide will provide instruction whenever you need it.
- Until approximately 1:30 p.m.
Drifting the river
We fish from the boat and, when conditions allow, stop at suitable stretches for some wade fishing.
- Around 2:30 PM
Back at your accommodation
Once we finish fishing, we enjoy a snack before heading back. Lunch is not included, leaving you free to enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

Is a half day suitable for beginners?
Yes. Your guide provides patient instruction and adapts the morning to your experience. You do not need to bring your own fishing equipment.
How long is the excursion?
Allow approximately six hours including transfers. The usual plan is pickup around 8:00 AM, fishing from about 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM and return around 2:30 PM. Times are approximate.
Is lunch included?
No. The half-day trip includes drinks and a snack at the end of the trip. Choose the full-day trip if you would like the riverside lunch experience.
Can I choose another river for a half-day trip?
Our half-day trips operate on the Limay River to keep transfers manageable. For the Manso and other destinations, explore our full-day options.
Can one person book the trip?
Yes. The published trip price is the total for one or two anglers with a private guide and boat.
